Dp Singh A Man Who Is Disabled By Legs But not By His Courage And Thoughts
India was in a state of war with Pakistan in the year 1999. It was the time of Kargil war where we Indian were fighting it out on the borders. Major DP Singh was posted in LOC with his battalion.They were 80 km away from the Pakistani forces. Killing and gunning down the rival was an everyday practice. There was a firing from both the sections and a bomb was thrown a meter and half away from where DP Singh was standing. When soldier recognized that he was alive they too him to Military Hospital Akhnoor immediately. He was bruised all over with a broken leg, elbow and his ribs were having an injured liver and a damaged intestine. The doctors not in a position to save the soldier. Senior Doctors were called from outside and a miracle happened, he was alive but a part of his leg was amputated and his intestine was damaged. The soldier lost 28 kg of weight within 48 days in the hospital. But his courage was above his miseries and he fought with all those problems.
Dp Singh Started A Support Group Called Challenging Ones
The major was 41 in the year 2012 when he started a support group called Challenging Ones. He said "Sports is the fastest way to build the correct attitude,"
On a funny way, he says that when you are disabled people give you much of respect and when you are performing it seems like your action speaks louder than words. The major was disabled from his legs not by his thoughts and courage
He Started A Marathon Last Year
He started a marathon last year and brought in idea to include all disabled in it and about 11000 people participated. He was successful in his idea and it was a great event. He says a very thoughtful quote “It is very important to take control of your mind and body”.
