A Must Visit Place for Every Child!!!
Let me tell you that while writing this article I went down to the memory lane of my childhood memories. Allahabad is the hub or we can say the sangam of history, education and religion. Allahabad University has been called Oxford of the East. As we all know that Children’s Day 2017 is nearing, and we can’t help but remember how each one of us has fond memories attached to this particular day. The freedom of wearing clothes of your choice to school to receiving gifts along with friends, this day has always been an interesting one for all Indian kids. Coming to the facts about this day, on November 14th, we celebrate Children’s Day to mark the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was very fond of children and also believed children were responsible for a bright and prosperous future of our country. One of the best ways we travellers can make the most of this day and remember the contribution of Jawaharlal Nehru is to explore the places to visit in Allahabad.
Anand Bhavan
When you are out in Allahabad just to explore Nehru’s memories, your first stop should be Bhavan which was the residence of Nehru family when Swaraj Bhavan became the headquarters of Indian National Congress. Built by Motilal Nehru in the year 1930, this historic house became a museum after it was donated to the Indian Government in 1970. Although the property is palatial and grand, Jawaharlal Nehru is said to not have great memories of this house as his life in this property was very sheltered, thanks to his uneventful home schooling within the very boundaries of this house
Swaraj Bhavan
Now a place that teaches arts and crafts to children and hosts to a sound-and-light-show four times a day, Swaraj Bhavan was the first residence of Nehru family in Allahabad. In fact, Swaraj Bhavan was originally called Anand Bhavan, but it was donated by the Nehru family to the Indian National Congress in 1930, when the family shifted to what is now known as Anand Bhavan.
Jawahar Planetarium
The Jawahar Planetarium in Allahabad is one of the must-visit places on Children’s Day. Built in the year 1979, the Jawahar Planetarium promotes education in the field of astronomy and is hence a great place to visit for both children and adults. The place is also famous for hosting the popular Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Lecture on Children’s Day every year.
