Delhi government is soon to come up with a solution as an awareness to contend the problem of public alcohol consumption. According to the government, people will soon be able to register complaints using their WhatsApp against public drinking.
Around 1,500 violators have been caught since the launch of the drive last November, the decision was taken at a review meeting in the presence of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who termed the move a “success”!
Taking women's safety in mind, Sisodia has taken the decision of condemning public alcohol drinking, which is also a safety hazard for those driving post getting high.We really appreciate and welcome the decision. This would ensure mitigation of crime rates and accidents in one go!
A Much-Welcomed Move By the Government!
“There has been a decline in the cases of people consuming liquor in public places since the launch of drive… the Excise Department of Delhi government has conducted indiscriminate raids following which over 1,500 violators have been caught,” Sisodia tweeted
He further tweeted, We want to rope in more people so that they can give inputs (about violators)...for which the Delhi government will soon issue a WhatsApp number, where people can register their complaints.
Fine of Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000,besides an imprisonment of six months on drinking in public and creating nuisance.
