When Bollywood Stands For Mahira Khan's Smoking Picture
On Thursday, September 21, two young, wild, and free actors were spotted smoking outside a restaurant in New York. The pictures of Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and Pakistani storm Mahira Khan(last seen in Raees) smoking outside a restaurant in NYC have taken the social media by storm.
The picture was actually clicked in July 2017 that has surfaced on social media now. In the picture, Ranbir is seen in his Dutt's biopic look while Mahira is seen donning the white backless dress. As soon as the picture went viral on social media, people have started Slut Slamming Mahira Khan for smoking.
Later, many Bollywood and Pakistani actors come in support of Mahira and they released statements. So let's have a look at what the actors have to say in this matter:
Ranbir Kapoor
First of all, Ranbir Kapoor who is seen with Mahira in pictures said: “I’ve gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months. She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful God-gifted lives. Peace and love. PS: Both smoking and hate are injurious to health.”
Rishi Kapoor
When his dad Rishi Kapoor was asked about the issue, he said: “I only saw them on Twitter, not on Instagram or Facebook, because I am only on Twitter. It’s not that I saw these pictures before or I know anything about this already. You see, Ranbir is a young star, he is unmarried, he’s a bachelor. He can meet anybody whoever he wants to, and if people are going to invade in his privacy, it’s not done. And I can’t say anything about all this because he’s a young man and he has the choice of meeting any girl. How do we know that here’s something more to this picture? He could have met her just outside there. They must have been in a restaurant or a place where they cannot smoke, that’s why they are smoking outside. In US, they have really strict rules that don’t allow smoking in public places. I can’t say anything more because I don’t know anything more than that.”
Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti Chopra during the trailer launch of Golmaal 4 said: “I’ll just say one line. It’s a little unfair. Everybody knows it’s unfair and it’ll stop. Today, because of social media, everything becomes too big a deal.”
Ali Zafar
Pakistani actor Ali Zafar wrote on Instagram: “What has happened to us? Have we lost all sense of sensibility? Must we choose gossip, intrigue and the self-appointed right of judgment over restrain, grace, tolerance and compassion?”
