Meet Nutmeg, who is in the Race to Become World’s Oldest Cat Alive!
Nutmeg is the name of a cat living in the UK, who was found in 1990 by a couple Liz and Ian Finlay in their garden. They took him to their local Cats Protection League, where vets told them he was at least five years old by then. The couple now believes that the cat is the oldest cat in the world and could hold the record for being around 31 now. The couple added, “We celebrate his birthday in March every year so we know it was around March 1990 when we got him.”

“I sorted out [an] abscess on his neck and then we took him to the Cats Protection League to check him over. The vet there said he was an adult, around five years.” They say the secret to Nutmeg’s long life is his love of chicken.
